Whats Happened:

End of Metro and INTRA Season

After months of gritting the chill, hatted in beanies, scuffing in uggies, the winter season is finally done and dusted! Stingers are giving a huge congratulations to the 5 teams participating in metro competition, with extra commendations to our Open W Team Lap-You Lazulis who won GOLD in their division!

A special shout-out to the following Superstar Stingers performances at end of minor season:

  • Ethan equal 7th highest goalscorer from M7
  • Tyler 2nd, and Darian equal 8th highest scorer in M6
  • With enough to form a nested list, Stingers players from W Open:
    • Kiara Holden - 2nd
    • Georgia Clarke - 4th
    • Isobel Bishop - 6th
    • Hannah Buckling & Hayley Collins- equal 9th

Swimming alongside, our Sunday Intra competition the grand final game was taken by Kingsford’s Aquamarine Armada. A game of friendly fire was the running theme through the whole season, and no better demonstrated by the final winning goal, scored on penalty with 0.3sec to spare. Not even the Olympics had this tight of a thrill!

Time to dry off, find those thongs, unpack the singlets and savor the solace of a break before the commencement of the summer season.

Boot Camp

Our new recruits have graduated for the round ready for the next challenge of joining us in the pool. A gold winning  thank you goes to Sophie H and Lilian, officials on the deck making sure the camp swam smoothly, and to the support crew Beck, Tom, Dylan, Sam, Rachel and Kayla.

Total Distance: 1.3km

Warm Up: 100 Free, 100 IM, 100 free

Main Set:

16x50m Free.

Time split in 4’s:

1st 50m on 1min

2nd 50m on 55sec

3rd 50m on 50 sec.

4th 50m on 45sec.

Repeat 4 times - continuous, no rest between sets of 4, straight back into the 1st on 1min.

Adjust your 1st 50m starting time as needed (so by the 4th your puffing with 5c or less rest), knocking off 5 sec for each progressive 50m.

Cool down: 200m

Notes:

  • Adjust the times to suit you, but still aim to push yourself. Suggestions:
    • A bit easier: add 5 to 10s on the suggested times per 50m.
    • A bit harder: minus 5 to 10s on the suggested times per 50m or add 2 more distance intervals (e.g where it says 6x100m do 8 of them.)
    • 50m Pool: add 5sec per 50m
  • Send your team a selfie with you at the pool after your set! Be the fitspo to my DMs :)
  • Splashproof and reuse the set - write it up with crayon (or pencil) on waxy baking paper, pat dry and keep in your bag for next time.
