Knowing the rules is one thing; knowing how to use them when the fleet is bunched at the pin end or three boats are converging on the windward mark is another.

Join us for an engaging, practical session hosted by Manly Yacht Club that takes a fresh approach to the Racing Rules of Sailing. Rather than working through the rulebook section by section, we’ll walk through a series of key tactical moves and real-world scenarios from a typical race—covering the start, the first beat, mark roundings, and the run.

What We’ll Cover:

• Knowing Your Rights: Clear guidance on when you have rights and when you must give room.

• Tactical Advantage: How to use the rules proactively to protect your lane and gain distance.

• Avoiding the Protest Room: Highlighting common misunderstandings and high-risk scenarios.

• On-Water Confidence: Practical insights tailored for skippers, tacticians, bow crew, and new sailors alike.

Bring your questions and your "what would have happened if..." scenarios for an interactive Q&A!
