DISCOVER SAILING DAY | MHYC × SALTWATER VETERANS ⛵️🇦🇺

We’re teaming up with Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC) for a Discover Sailing Day — and this is a pretty exciting opportunity.

Rather than simply putting boats on display, we want to give veterans, their families and the wider community a genuine taste of sailing.

No sailing experience required. You don’t need to know anything about boats — just come along, hang out, meet some good people and have a go.

The day will include opportunities to:

⛵ Jump on the water for short sailing experiences
🛟 Get out on the RHIB
⚓ Check out our boats and marine operations
🤝 Meet the Saltwater Veterans community
🍔 Enjoy a BBQ and hang out with the crew
👋 Find out more about getting involved in sailing

WE NEED SALTIES — AND NEW FACES!

We need our Saltwater Veterans community to come along and help make the day happen — whether you're sailing, helping with the RHIB, looking after people ashore, fitting lifejackets, talking to newcomers or simply helping create the right atmosphere.

But this isn't just a call for our existing volunteers.

If you’ve never been sailing with Saltwater Veterans before, you’re invited too.

No experience. No sailing qualifications. No expectations.

Just come down, meet the crew, jump on a boat, get out on the water and see what we’re all about.

This is a significant opportunity to introduce veterans and the wider community to sailing and show how getting on, in and around the water can create connection, purpose and a whole lot of enjoyment.

Whether you’re a seasoned salty or someone who has always wondered what sailing is about — come and join us.

🚗 Parking

Middle Harbour Yacht Club, 75 Lower Parriwi Road, Mosman NSW 2088, Australia

• Parking in the main club carpark is approximately $10 per hour.
• A limited number of free spots are available down the side of the club along the service road.
• Free street parking can be found approximately 100m up Parriwi Road (the road above the club) — a short walk down.
• Northern Beaches residents with a Beach Permit may also choose to park in the carpark on the north side of Spit Bridge — approximately a 5-minute walk.

Come for the sailing. Stay for the BBQ. Leave with a new crew.

Ever wondered what it’s like to go sailing? Join us for a Discover Sailing Day and experience the thrill of being on the water while exploring your local sailing club.

• No experience needed – just bring your sense of adventure
• Perfect for families, friends, and anyone curious about sailing
• Friendly club members will be there to welcome you and answer questions

Prerequisite: For safety reasons, participants must be confident in and around the water.

By the end of the day, you’ll have:

• Experienced sailing firsthand
• Discovered the fun and community spirit of your local club
• Learned about exciting courses, activities, and ways to keep sailing
