Drone Operations (RPA)
Saltwater Veterans Sailing Project (SVSP) utilises drones (Remotely Piloted Aircraft – RPA) to support operational oversight, safety monitoring, and media capture. All drone operations are conducted in accordance with CASA regulations.

Personnel operating drones for SVSP purposes must hold a valid RPA Operator Accreditation or higher qualificaiton. Accreditation is mandatory when flying for business or as part of SVSP duties for drones weighing:

  • 250 g or less (micro RPA);
  • More than 250 g up to 2 kg (very small RPA); or
  • More than 2 kg up to 25 kg (small RPA), when operating over land owned or controlled by SVSP.

Obtaining RPA Operator Accreditation is:

  • Online
  • Valid for 3 years
