Calling Veterans – Join the Adaptive Wingfoiling Collective

We are seeking veterans to be part of a collective effort exploring adaptive wingfoiling as a pathway to reinstate sailing for the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.

This is a two-step process:

  1. Register your interest with SVSP – we want to know who is keen to represent Saltwater Veterans.

  2. Complete the Expression of Interest with Australian Sailing – this is the official step to participate in trial days and potential events. (You will be sent the link after step 1 is completed.)

We really want veterans to represent Saltwater Veterans, and we will look at ways to provide support throughout the process.

Wingfoiling ticks key boxes for the International Paralympic Committee: fast, adrenaline-filled, visually exciting, and appealing to younger generations.

World Sailing, Australian Sailing, and community organisations including SVSP are working together to identify, support, and prepare athletes for this exciting new discipline.

This December, seated wingfoiling will be showcased as a demo event at the Inclusive World Championships in Oman, with equipment supplied and 10 athlete slots available.

Athlete Requirements

  • Sufficient trunk control to sit on the board

  • Arm strength to manage the wing

  • Ability to get back on the board independently
