Code of Conduct

Strathpine Physical Culture Club

Our Values

We have three core values at Strathpine Physie that we appreciate members and parents follow. These include:

  • Respect: By treating each other, the wider association and any decisions made by teachers or judges with respect, we display integrity and club spirit.
  • Encourage: By always encouraging our peers, we show our dedication to creating a friendly, inclusive and supportive environment for all members.
  • Strive: By setting goals, working hard towards them and helping others to do the same, we commit to striving to be our best.

Our Club Code of Conduct

Our club is run by dedicated volunteers who give their time to provide a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for all members. Respectful behaviour is expected from members, parents and spectators at all times. Disrespectful, aggressive or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Strathpine Physie encourages ALL members to read through the BJP Physie Code of Conduct for Members, Parents and Spectators. Strathpine Physie members and supporters will be held to this standard of conduct.

MEMBERS’ CODE OF CONDUCT

All members are expected to:

  • Participate with a positive attitude and enjoy their Physie experience.

  • Treat all members, teachers, officials and volunteers with respect, regardless of ability, age or cultural background.

  • Speak and behave respectfully at all times — gossip, bullying, negative comments or criticism of others is not acceptable.

  • Follow instructions from teachers, officials and volunteers promptly and respectfully.

  • Show good sportsmanship:

    • Be humble in success and gracious in disappointment.

    • Do not blame teachers, judges or others for results.

    • Focus on learning, effort and self-improvement - not results or outcomes.

  • Support and encourage fellow competitors, whether from your own club or another.

  • Represent your club with pride, respect and integrity at all classes, competitions and events.

  • Remember that your behaviour reflects on your club, teachers and teammates.

PARENTS’ CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents and guardians play a vital role in setting the tone of our club. All parents are expected to:

  • Support and encourage participation — never pressure, criticise or speak negatively to or about a child.

  • Model respectful behaviour at all times. Children learn from what they see and hear.

  • Treat teachers, volunteers, judges and officials with courtesy and appreciation. They give their time so your child can participate.

  • Respect all competitors regardless of results, appearance or ability.

  • Never ridicule, shout at, or embarrass a child — your own or someone else’s.

  • Accept judges’ decisions without complaint or confrontation and teach children to do the same.

  • Raise concerns calmly, privately and respectfully, following club communication processes.

  • Understand that our club relies on volunteers — aggressive behaviour, unreasonable demands or public criticism is unacceptable.

  • Consider volunteering your time to support the smooth running of the club.

Strathpine Physie prides itself on its welcoming, inclusive and supportive club environment. Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • A verbal warning

  • Removal from the venue

  • Cessation of membership

Our Expectations

Attending Classes

  • The studio carpark is a shared space with our neighbour's and has a 10km/h speed limit. Please ensure you are driving slowly and safely and look out for children crossing. Please be respectful and aware of the neighbouring businesses when using the space and ensure children are not playing in the carpark.
  • We welcome everyone to view classes at our studio from the carpeted viewing area. This viewing area is a quiet space. Loud conversations or children playing in this area disrupts class and is not permitted. The viewing area may be closed if noise impacts our members' classes.
  • Children not attending class are the responsibility of the caregiver - not the teachers or administration. Please ensure children who are not in class are appropriately supervised.  and do not play loudly in the warm up area.
  • We ask all members to approach their physie classes with a positive attitude and be always striving to live by our club values. We expect that you treat our teachers, helpers and administration with respect; crude language or rude remarks will also not be tolerated and poor behavior will be escalated to parents and guardians. At competitions, this spreads to teachers, students and spectators of other clubs as well.

Club Fees

  • Fees must be paid on time or discussed with administration officer, Karen, prior to the third week of the block. We aim to be very understanding of financial hardship where we are aware of the situation however, we will be following up on late fees regularly if we are unaware of your circumstances.
  • Members MUST be registered with both BJP Physie and Strathpine Physie to attend classes.
  • We ask you to kindly not adjust your own fees, as set out in your invoice without first seeing Karen. As a not-for-profit club, we aim to always keep our fees low and only charge what is necessary to keep Strathpine Physie running.

Social Media Policy

  • Our club has a Child Safety Plan which pledges to ensure all members are kept safe and comfortable at all times.
  • At the commencement of each year, members will be asked whether they consent to their image being posted by Strathpine Physie to Facebook and/or Instagram. This may then result in BJP Physie requesting the image also be shared on their National platform.
  • We have a private Facebook Group where we share photos from performances and club events - this is monitored carefully to ensure the safety and comfort of all of our members and families.

We ask a few things of our members:

  • Do not share any videos of the BJP syllabus to their own social media pages until after the competition season for the year has finished.
  • Videos including other children/members are not to be shared publicly to ensure the safety and privacy of our members is maintained.
  • You must have consent to share photos of other children or members.

Teams

Strathpine Physie is an A-Grade Club for Juniors and a Championship Grade club for Ladies and we pride ourselves on forming and presenting excellent and inclusive teams. We are a team sport and a club who prioritises team involvement above individual accolades. By registering, you are agreeing to be in a team and it will be compulsory to attend the required lessons and compete at the teams competition if selected. We would appreciate you discussing with us early if you have concerns about your ability to commit to teams so planning can take place. Teams is a selection process and while we aim to always ensure everyone is allocated a spot in a team, there are instances where membership numbers do not allow for all inclusion. In this case, we expects the decision made by the teachers to be respected.
