Application & Indemnity Declaration
I/We the undersigned herewith apply for membership with the Sonata Yacht Association (SYA).
I/We undertake to support the purpose of the Association and abide by its rules
(A Copy of these rules can be viewed on the Association's website Sonata Yacht Association Rules
I/We acknowledge and accept:
֎ The SYA, including those members who are elected or temporarily nominated for specific functions, is a body of volunteers which organizes and conducts racing, cruising and social events for its members and guests.
֎ The SYA,however, does not accept responsibility for any injury, loss or damage, resulting from participation in such events. This responsibility rests solely with the participants, who agree to indemnify the SYA against any resulting claims. Participants must independently judge each situation during an event with respect to safety.
֎ With respect to boating events, participating members undertake
* To carry current boat insurance, including public liability cover.
* To be familiar with and to observe applicable boating regulations in the State or Territory in which you are sailing. (e.g. as contained in the Victorian Recreational Boating Safety Handbook.)
* To have a licenced skipper in control of the vessel.
