  • Dance
  • Precision, Show and Quartet
  • Figures

What is Freeskating
Free skating is the choreographed performance of a series of jumps, spins and turns set to the skater’s choice of music. The required moves are incorporated into an interpretative routine that allows the skater to showcase his or her ability to complete a wide range of precise moves. Free skating can also be performed in pairs which usually incorporates spectacular lifts and throws.

What is Dance skating
Dance can be performed as a solo or in dance pairs and is a prescribed series of steps in keeping with traditional dances such as the Tango, Quickstep or Waltz. As skaters progress they are able to perform in the Free Dance discipline which allows creative interpretation of dance steps, and can incorporate some jumps and spins.

What is Precision, Quartet and Show
Precision skating is performed by teams of skaters who execute an intricate set of skating moves as one unit, moving at high speeds. The emphasis is on maintaining exact timing to successfully achieve synchronised formations.

Show group events focus on the quality of the performance. A wider range of moves is permitted, and props are often used to enhance the experience.

Quartet -. It has more of a show element towards it with introductory words to explain the storyline or theme behind the performance

What is Figure Skating

Figures is a fundamental component of artistic skating and focuses on developing a skater's core strength. Skaters perform an intricate series of moves, following a marked figure circle or loop. To successfully perform figures, skaters must focus on how well they trace the figure circle, clean take-offs and edges, the correct placement of turns and their body posture.
