Welcome WA Sharpies – 2026/27 Sailing Season!

The 2026/27 WA Sharpie season is set to be a big one, with a packed racing calendar, a new-look State Championship Series and, of course, the 83rd Australian Sharpie National Championships at Mounts Bay Saiing Club. 

The WA Sharpies Opening Day Series will mark the commencement of our season, with events planned across our clubs:

• Sunday 27th September 2026 – EFYC
• Saturday 3rd October 2026 – MBSC
• GBYC – TBC

State Selection

28th & 29th November 2026 – Melville Water West

A big weekend of racing to select our WA Team representatives for the upcoming 83rd Australian Sharpie National Championships in Perth.

WA Sharpie State Championships

This season, the WA Sharpie State Championships will be contested as a 10-race series across multiple weekends.

Heats 1 & 2
24th & 25th October 2026 – Sail Freo

Two heats of the Sail Freo regatta will kick off our 2026/27 State Championship Series.

Heats 3–8
28th & 29th November 2026 – Melville Water West

Six heats across the weekend, held in conjunction with our WA State Selection Series.

Heats 9 & 10
Saturday 13th March 2027 – Melville Water West

The final two heats of the series, with WA State Championship presentations to follow at EFYC.

Valentine’s Cup

Don’t miss the Valentine’s Cup on Saturday 13th February 2027 at EFYC.

This invitational short-course event is a fantastic opportunity for female skippers to showcase their skills, get behind the helm and enjoy some fun, competitive Sharpie racing.

The Nationals are coming home to WA!

With the Australian Sharpie fleet descending on Perth and the Swan River, we want to see as many WA boats as possible on the start line.

Get your crew organised, get the boat ready and lock these dates into the calendar for what promises to be an unforgettable week of racing, social events and Sharpie spirit.

2026/27 Season Registration

Please get your registrations in for the 2026/27 Season.

Registration includes:

• Membership of the WA Sharpie Association
• Eligibility for all Association points and trophies
• National Boat Registration

Please note: Your State Championships entry fee will be charged separately.

Registration Options

• Boat Registration + Skipper (boat owner) – $120
• Country Boat Registration + Skipper (boat owner) – $105
• Sailing Membership – $60
• Junior Sailing Membership – $40
• Associate Membership (Social Membership) – $20

All boats and sailors competing in WA Sharpie Association events are required to be current financial members.

To maintain a current National Boat Registration, boats must meet all applicable class measurement requirements.

To compete at the Australian Sharpie National Championships, sailors must also be financial members of their State Association.

With the Nationals in Perth, a full State Championship Series and plenty of great club racing ahead, 2026/27 is going to be a huge season for WA Sharpies.
