The Peter Kemp Sculling Classic

This event will be over 8 miles (13km) down the Hawkesbury River from North Richmond Bridge to Windsor Bridge.

The event is for Single and Double sculls only.

Born on the Hawkesbury in 1853, Peter Kemp contested the world sculling championships on seven occasions, coming away with the title five times.  As a professional sculler Peter competed for 45 years.

The Peter Kemp Sculling Classic will finish at Windsor where regattas were held back in teh 1840's.  Peter Kemp's grandfather was a rowing champion in those days, the family has competed in rowing since 1830's until the very present day making them one of the oldest rowing families in Australia.
