New Membership
The Sydney Colonial Muzzle Loading Club, as the name suggests, was primarily formed to support, promote and foster an interest in muzzle-loading and black powder in all its forms and applications, including target shooting, collecting, and hunting.
Although the Club offers a wide and varied shooting program, it is important for all members and applicants to understand the following:
The common bond among members is a shared interest in muzzle-loading shooting.
SCMLC maintains a long-standing affiliation with the NSW Muzzle Loading Association.
You will need to hold or be intended to hold current firearms licence of the appropriate category, "Target Shooting"
Please have your license ready before proceeding with registration. If you are applying for your license, you will need to provide the details once received.
Membership at SCMLC is by nomination.
All applicants must be personally known to at least two current members who are willing to act as proposer and seconder.
New members are expected to value and preserve firearms of historical significance—particularly black powder muzzle-loaders, which remain central to the Club’s purpose.
While modern firearms are permitted under our program, applicants should recognise and respect that our foundation lies in traditional muzzle-loading disciplines.
To apply, please download and complete the Membership Nomination Form, and submit it along with a non-refundable $50 application fee. This fee covers administrative costs and does not guarantee acceptance.
All applications are subject to review and approval by the Management Committee.
