Welcome to the Rovers-Cardinals Hockey Club
The Rovers-Cardinals Hockey Club proudly competes in the Geraldton Hockey Association and is one of the region’s most established and successful community sporting clubs.
With a proud history, strong family values, and a commitment to junior development, we provide a supportive and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels.
Our History
Cardinals Women’s Hockey Club (Established 1929)
The Cardinals Women’s Hockey Club was founded in 1929 and remains the oldest club within the Geraldton Hockey Association. The club’s traditional colours were red and white, and it built a proud legacy of commitment, sportsmanship, and community involvement.
Rovers Men’s Hockey Club (Established 1953)
The Rovers Men’s Hockey Club was established in 1953 and made an immediate impact by winning the premiership in its inaugural season. The club proudly wore red and black and developed a strong culture of competitiveness and mateship.
United as One Club
In 1989, the two proud clubs united to form the Rovers-Cardinals Hockey Club. The combined club colours — red, black, and white — honour the heritage of both original clubs. In 1995, the “Redback” logo was introduced, symbolising strength, resilience, and unity.
