PREVIOUSLY THE 3 RIVERS MINI-MARATHON

This is a unique opportunity to follow the course of the Hastings River for 20kms, through some exquisite countryside, from Rocks Ferry at Wauchope to the Port Macquarie Rowing Clubs, and under the 4 Bridges - Stoney Creek, Rawdon Island, Pacific Highway and the iconic Dennis Bridge.

Proudly hosted by Port Macquarie Rowing Club for 20 years, the mini-marathon is for everyone who has a non-motorised water craft. From kayaks, canoes and outriggers to sculls, surf and dragon boats. In recent years a growing number of  stand-up paddle-boarders have  completed it.  Online registration will open 4 May until 14 August.  Participants can registister in person until 7.30am on the day of the event (a $5.00 late registration fee will be applied).

Muster on the day at 6.30 am, aiming for the first wave of starters to be getting away by around 8.30am and completing the starts by 9am. Most watercraft will complete the 20km course in under 3 hours. There will be finish cut-off time, dependent on the conditions, to be announced on the day. Any craft still on the water at this time will be picked up by the sweep boat.

For the recreational or family paddler, the event offers the opportunity to take in the scenery at a leisurely pace in a safe and picturesque watercourse. The tide is expected to be high at Rocks Ferry at about 6.45am, meaning most participants will have an outgoing tide assisting them all the way. At the finish, please enjoy food and drink from the food van, and some shade (or sun).

Entry fee is $60 per person,$40 for those under 18 or still at school and $40 for dragon-boat paddlers. A coffee van will be available at the start and  finish and a food truck will also be available at finish. Transport back to Rocks Ferry can be provided as required.

Please enter a boat name in the space provided on the registration form. If your boat doesn't have a name, you can make one up for the purpose of the event, but make sure the rest of your crew know what it is. This is so we can match crew members (if more than one) to a particular craft, especially if your club is entering more than boat. If you dont have a club just put NA.

The event is weather dependent. Severe weather, including predicted winds in excess of 25 knots, thunderstorms or flooding may cause the cancellation of the event. Fog (which is unlikely in August), could cause starts to be delayed. Detailed briefing notes will be emailed to all registrants prior to the event.

In the event of cancellation of the event, the event organisers undertake to refund $30 per person to a nominated bank account, the balance to be retained to cover fixed costs for the event.

Also available are event T shirts. Please order on the event registration form. T-Shirt Sizing Guide

REGISTRATIONS OPEN 4 MAY 2026

Note for stand up paddleboards and sit-on recreational kayaks particularly

20kms paddled or rowed in a maximum of 3 hours is not for everyone. Before entering, we suggest you get familiar with your boat and your own capability. Based on previous years' experience,  SUPs and small sit-on kayaks may struggle to finish within the cut-off. Be up for the challenge, but be realistic.
