MESSAGE FROM PHANTOMS’ PRESIDENT
NEW SEASON, NEW COMMITTEE!
Welcome to our first newsletter for the 2026/27 season. We held a successful AGM on 25 July 2026, and I would like to thank our outgoing committee members: Sean Rose, Zack Weedon, Pete Steele, Sam Hardy, Felix Hickling, Bella Rose and Bridget Barton. All have made valuable contributions to the committee, and we appreciate their ongoing support and commitment to Phantoms.
A special mention goes to Sean Rose, who has held numerous committee positions, including President, and has been a player since 2004. Sean is an asset to our club, and his life membership of Phantoms and receipt of the Joel Sangster Award reflect the significant contribution he has made. Sean regularly helps with all manner of tasks and is a font of knowledge about the club, Water Polo WA, other clubs and players. Thank you, Sean, for your dedication and commitment to water polo, Phantoms and your fellow club members.
We welcome Vice President Ty Kowalski to the committee for 2026/27. Congratulations, Ty. Our new general members are Marcel Bennington, Declan Brown, Barry Gibb, Ben McSweeney, Ruby Soanes and Rachel Tierney.
I am returning as President and welcome the return of Secretary Mia Buswell, Treasurer Michelle Yates, and general members Donna Barwood, Emma Sealey and Clarry Zeiser.
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and helped tidy up, making the morning a great opportunity to catch up and discuss the previous and coming year of water polo.
Cheers,
Rossie Soanes

WE NEED YOU—JOIN A SUBCOMMITTEE
There is always room to help, and you do not have to be a committee member. Many hands make light work, so please consider contributing to one of the following subcommittees:
• Social Competition—help us make the social league happen.
• Juniors Program—we would value support from parents or older juniors who want to develop their leadership skills.
• Social Events and Fundraising—help us celebrate 40 years of Phantoms and 10 years with the White Pointers.
• Marketing and Public Relations—support articles, media releases, marketing and promotion of the Phantom name.
• Social Media, Communications and Newsletter—help with social media, website updates and future newsletters.
Contact Mia at secretary@phantomswpc.com.au and include the subcommittee you are interested in within the subject line.

COACHES FOR THE 2026/27 SEASON
Phantoms had a coach at every training session during winter, and we are aiming to do the same again for summer. Our coaches give their time and knowledge to help every player improve. Please arrive on time and listen to the coaches to get the best from every training session.
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2026/27 SEASON
Our attention over the next couple of weeks is on team nominations and player registrations. Players should have received an Intention to Register email containing a short questionnaire. If you have not already completed it, please do so as soon as possible.
