Coaching / Volunteering

• All Payneham Youth Centre coaches hold current Gymnastics Australia coaching accreditations
• Coaches maintain up-to-date safety requirements, including a Working With Children Check (WWCC)
• All coaches have completed the Gymnastics Australia Child Safety Course
• Coaches participate in ongoing professional development to ensure safe, modern, and engaging coaching practices
• Safety is a priority at all sessions, with structured warm-ups, appropriate progressions, and supervision at all times

PYC offers a Junior Coaching pathway for gymnasts who are interested in developing leadership and coaching skills while remaining actively involved in the club. 

• Gymnasts aged 10 years and over may volunteer as junior coaches
• Junior coaches assist qualified coaches during classes and activities
• Participants develop confidence, responsibility, communication, and teamwork skills
• Junior coaches are supported and mentored by experienced coaching staff

As skills, maturity, and experience develop, junior coaches may progress toward formal Gymnastics Australia coaching accreditation when appropriate. This pathway provides valuable experience for those interested in coaching, sport leadership.
