Which Registration Type is Right for Me?
Choosing the correct registration ensures you’re covered to play the softball you want throughout the season.
Not all options are automatically available when you go to register, so if you need a registration type that is not available on the registration page, reach out to your Club Registrar to discuss your needs and obtain the link.
If you’re unsure which option to select, use the guide below or contact your Club Registrar.

Full Season Registration (2026/27)
Best for: Players intending to play regular competition throughout the season.
A Full Season Registration allows you to play throughout the entire softball year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June.
Registration categories are based on the player’s age and include:
- Senior
- Junior
- Sub-Junior
- Benny Ball
Includes
- Unlimited competition games throughout the season
- Eligibility for representative softball (subject to selection and Softball NSW eligibility requirements)
- Covers the full registration period until 30 June
Choose this option if…
- You are playing in the regular ODSA competition.
- You expect to play most weeks.
- You would like to be eligible for representative teams.
8-Game Registration
Best for: Players who can only play occasionally.
This registration allows you to play up to eight competition games during the financial year.
Games:
- do not need to be consecutive
- may be spread across the season
- count regardless of which grade you play in
For example, if you play:
- 4 A Grade games
- 2 B Grade games
- 2 games as a fill-in player
you have used your eight-game allocation.
Important
- Players registered under this category are not eligible for representative softball under Softball NSW rules.
- Once all eight games have been used, another 8-game (or 4-game) registration must be purchased.
- This registration cannot be upgraded to a Full Season Registration with fees credited.
4-Game Registration
Works exactly the same as the 8-game registration, except it allows you to participate in up to four games during the registration year.
Important
- Not eligible for representative softball.
- Cannot be upgraded with fee credit.
- Once four games have been used, another package must be purchased.
2-Month Event Registration
Best for: Social competitions such as Social 7’s.
This registration allows unlimited softball during a single consecutive two-month period.
Unlike the 8-game registration:
✅ Play as many games as you like.
✅ Play multiple grades.
✅ Play every week if you wish.
The only limitation is that your registration covers one continuous two-month period.
Important
- The two months cannot be split throughout the year.
- Once the registration starts, the two-month period runs continuously.
Upgrading
Players who later decide to continue playing can upgrade to a Full Season Registration.
When upgrading, any Softball Australia and Softball NSW affiliation fees already paid through the 2-Month Event Registration are credited, meaning you only pay the difference.
Member on Permission (MOP)
Best for: Players already registered elsewhere.
A Member on Permission registration allows a player whose primary registration is with another club or association to also participate with ODSA.
There are two common situations.
Registered with another Association
For example:
You normally play weekend competition in Sydney but would like to play a weekday competition with ODSA while living or working in Orange.
Your primary registration remains with your home association.
Registered with another ODSA Club
Sometimes players register with one ODSA club but receive permission to play with another.
Examples include:
- Cardinals member playing in a Bletchington team or vice versa
- Combined teams
This occurs only in limited circumstances, is generally arranged between the clubs involved, and requires Rules Committee approval.
Tournament Registration
Best for: Masters tournaments and invitational events.
Tournament Registration provides insurance and affiliation for a single tournament or event only.
Typical examples include:
- Masters tournaments
- Invitational tournaments
- One-off events
Important
- Registration only covers the nominated tournament.
- Tournament registrations cannot be upgraded to a Full Season Registration with fee credit.
If you already hold a current Full Season Registration, you do not need to purchase a Tournament Registration to compete in eligible tournaments.
Still Not Sure?
If you’re unsure which registration option best suits you, please contact the Regustrar at ODSA or your Club before registering.
We’re happy to help you choose the most appropriate membership so you’re covered correctly for the softball you want to play.
