Nau mau, piki mai and welcome to the Home of Dragon Boating in Aotearoa - New Zealand.
In New Zealand, Dragon Boating is a sport and a social passtime. In our humble opinion, it is the ultimate team sport, as one person can't propel a Dragon Boat quickly through the water but a team working together can! And by the way, a Dragon Boat team is made up of 22 people!!

From Social paddling activities, Corporate team building events all the way through to Elite level racing at Regional, National and International events, anyone can be part of this wonderfu sport.

Our NZ National Dragon Boat team, affectionately known as the Black Dragons, are regular medalists at the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships where much larger countries such as China, the USA, Cananda, Germany and Australia are also competing. As is the Kiwi way, we "punch well above our weight" at the international level.

The New Zealand Dragon Boat Association (NZDBA) also known as Dragon Boat NZ, is the "peak sporting body" and the National Sports Organisation (NSO) for our sport. We are associated with national sporting bodies such as Sport NZ and we are also an affiliate of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) which governs the sport of Dragon Boat racing world-wide.

So if this is of interest to you then check out our NZDBA website here for more information about our sport.
