- Sustainability
We recognise and appreciate it when members show Leadership, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Compassion, Spirit and Commitment.
By completing your registration, you agree to abide by the NCHC Code of Conduct and the Hockey Australia and Hockey Victoria Codes of Conduct, as set out in the Terms of Registration.
Hookin2Hockey Program
Hookin2Hockey is an introductory program for boys and girls aged 5-12, which teaches the basic hockey skills and strategies for safe and enjoyable play. Equipment is provided for use during the program.
It's free to attend your first session so register here and let us know that you are keen.
If you wish to participate in the whole program, please pay the Hockey Victoria fee of $60.50 by choosing:
'New member' at the bottom of this page. Complete the questions, choose '2026 Hookin2Hockey' and pay the fee ($60.50) at the last page. The fee provides insurance until December 31, and covers the Hockey Victoria fee if the child continues on to join a team.
Joining a Team
Everyone is welcome to join one of our teams, from U8 to U16 junior plus senior men and women. The 2026 season begins on April 18/19.
There are two separate fees which each player must pay in order to participate in a team.
- Hockey Victoria compulsory registration - paid online at the time of registration. This fee provides insurance cover until December 31.
- Club / team fees which are charged to cover the costs of running the club and of entering teams in the various competitions.
Hockey Victoria Registration - Winter season
Registration with Hockey Victoria is compulsory for all players participating in a team. Choose the option which is appropriate for your age (not necessarily the team you wish to play in).
HV 5 Game HV Membership - A reduced 5 game playing membership is available in the Winter season. Once you reach 5 games, if you wish to continue playing further games, you will need to upgrade and pay the remainder of the HV fee.
Club Fees for the Winter Season
In addition to the Hockey Victoria registration fee, Newtown Hockey Club charges a fee to join a team and play in the Hockey Geelong competition. These fees cover the cost of team entry fees, umpires fees, ground hire, club equipment, trophies, subsidies for players selected in Regional and State teams, coaching and development programs, recruiting new members etc.
You will receive an invoice from the Treasurer for the club's winter season fees.
Club / team 5 Game Membership - A club / team 5 game playing membership is available in the Winter season, equal to 1/3 of the full fee. If you wish to continue playing further games once you reach 5, you will need to upgrade and pay the remainder of the fee.
There is a question in the registration process about discounts on NCHC fees and you can tick '5 game membership' here to let the Treasurer know.

Team selection
As part of the registration process, you will be asked which team or age group you wish to play in. You may choose to play in more than one team e.g. U16 and senior.
Hockey Victoria Registration - Summer season
For those who have not played hockey during the winter season and wish to play summer hockey, there is a Hockey Victoria summer fee at a reduced level, which is included in the registration for summer teams. This fee also provides insurance cover until 31/12/2025.
The club fees for the summer competition are included in the registration process so that only one fee needs to be paid.
Fundraising and Donations
Newtown City Hockey Club supports all our members to achieve their aims, whether they wish to participate in local competition, or to aim for higher levels of participation.
We appreciate the contribution given by members to club fundraising projects - as time volunteered or purchases made. Fundraising helps to cover the costs of player development programs, trophies and end of season presentations, Keith Robertson scholarships, and subsidies for players selected in Regional, State and National teams.
Fundraising projects also help to reduce the cost of fees collected from members to play in a team. Our annual fundraising target of $5000 is approximately equal to $20/ member, which would otherwise need to be met by raising the club's team fees.
If you are unable to assist with the fundraising projects, any donations will be gratefully accepted.
Tax deductible donations ($2 or more) may be made through the Australian Sports Foundation. Your donation will help us ensure that all our members have the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
