Members Masterclass Series

NCYC are pleased to present a new program of member information sessions

. . . to be held at the Club on Monday nights, where members can come together in a casual & social environment and be involved in talks & discussions on a wide variety of marine topics.

Whether you’re a cruiser or racer, inshore or offshore, dinghy or yachtie, around the buoys or passage sailor, boat owner, skipper or crew or maybe you’re a bit of all of those – we’re aiming to present topics that will interest you!

 

What is the workshop all about?

Future Athletic workshops are all about education and fun.

Sailors race and spend time on boats because they love it, and some have the fire in their belly to succeed because it’s what they enjoy doing. Training should be fun too, whilst race day should always be the priority, if our bodies aren’t ready to race then it won’t be as much fun.

Our workshops are a great way to meet other sailors and learn about the Future Athletic program. The workshops run for up to 3hrs and are designed specially to equip sailors with a base of knowledge about exercises for their role on a boat, why we do certain movements in training programs and learning about how to prepare the body for a sailing day, series or passage.

The workshops play a key role in our mission to create sailors for life, at Future Athletic we believe in looking to the future. We believe that better conditioned people make better sailors, now and in their future participation in sport.

Content Overview:

  • Pre Sailing warm up/Post Sailing cool down. Importance and when to do (30mins)

  • Targeted exercises for strength and injury prevention (1hr)

  • Sailing specific muscle strength/body composition education (30mins)

  • Team Movement *brings together parts of content in a practical setting. (40mins)
