We welcome you to join our Women's Inshore Coaching Program, supported by a 'Sail Our Way' grant provided by Australian Sailing and the Department of Health.
The two-part program is structured to align with our SheSAILS@NCYC Committee's strategic plan, and aims to empower & link the women & girls of Newcastle with OPPORTUNITIES in sailing through PATHWAYS, CONNECTION & INCLUSION.
Coaching will FOCUS on:
- Skilled boat handling
- Cohesive crew work
- Close-quarters manoeuvering
- Developing confidence
The OUTCOME is competent, race-ready inshore sailors.
Coaching will be a combination of shore-based discussions and on-water activities. Sailing will be on the Club's fleet of Elliott 6 inshore keelboats (crews of 3 or 4) and on occassion on the club's fleet of Pacer dinghies. Please be aware coaches will not be onboard the sailing boats, they will coach from RIBs nearby.
The Program is open to sailors 14years+ from across the Newcastle/Hunter region.
There is a maximum intake of 24 sailors for each program.
After each coaching session there will be an informal 'Bubbles & Nibbles' debrief back in the NCYC Clubhouse (softdrink or sparkling with canapes provided).
