Cranbrook - Primary School Junior Development Water Polo Competition

It is with great excitement that we announce the Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy - The Water Polo School is spreading their wings to venues across Sydney to host Primary School Junior Development Competitions and Programs.

The Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy – The Water Polo School team, has over 10 years’ experience running these sorts of Competitions and Events.  We are passionate about the development of the sport of Water Polo and love to see the growth in all the boys and girls learning their water polo skills from beginner to one day representing Australia at the Olympics… 😊

In Term 2 and Term 3, 2024 we will be hosting a Primary School Junior Development Competition at the Murrary Rose Aquatic Centre @ Cranbrook School... namely, Eastern Suburbs Primary Schools Water Polo competition.

The competition will be held on Friday evenings commencing 10th May 2024 and running through to 28th June, 2024 - 8 weeks.

Games will be scheduled from 6pm and we will finish by 8pm.

Term 3 dates are yet to be confirmed.

Who Can Play??

Our focus is on the Year 5 and Year 6 boys and girls; however, we are open to accepting boys and girls who are Born 2012 who may be in Year 7 and Year 4 boys and girls who are competent swimmers in deep water.

ALL players must be competent and feel comfortable swimming in deep water.

Entries are open to School Teams (Private & Public) and individual players if schools are not able to field enough players.  We will work at putting teams together, so everyone can have a chance to play Water Polo.

All players will need to REGISTER as a NEW member, or RENEW their membership if they have previously registered with the Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy - The Water Polo School... Click on the link below - 

Once the Registration step is completed, you will receive a confirmation username and password reset (check spam/junk mail), then ALL players are to register for the Event, as an Individual Player... The following is required during the Individual Player Event registration process...

1. School/Team Name

2. School/Team Manager Contact (email & mobile)

3.  Player List (who you wish to play with)

4.  Gender (Boy or Girl)

5.  Player DOB

Cost:-  Introductory Offer $99 per player....

Ideally, we are hoping to run an 8 team boys competition and 8 team girls competition

Teams:-

  • Minimum of 8 players and maximum of 10 players to register per team (Ideal number is 9)
  • 6 players - 5 field and GK at any one time in the water
  • 3 Metro players per team will be eligibile to play (if schools have Metro players)
  • Teams can be Year 5 only, Year 6 only or combined Year 5 & Year 6
  • Teams can be mixed gender, however would prefer boys teams and girls teams

Game Time:-

  • 4 x 5-minute quarters

Caps/Balls:-

  • Water Polo balls and caps are supplied each week by the Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy - The Water Polo School

Scorecards/Sign on sheets

  • Players names are to be marked off the sign on sheet on arrival each week, situated at the Duty Table, to record attendance
  • Pre-printed scorecards are provided for each game
  • Scoring is not compulsory as results are not calculated

Draw/Schedule:

  • We do create a draw / game schedule for the duration of the competition, which is emailed prior to the first week of the competition to all registered players.

Coaches: 

  • If schools/teams are having difficulty in providing a Coach, please reach out as we may be able to assist with our Junior Representative players.

Referees

Referees will be Junior Representative U14/U16/U18 boys and girls.  Some are more experienced than others… they are developing these skills – Players/Coaches/Parents/Spectators are to be respectful, as they are learning – Poor behaviour towards our Referees will not be tolerated.

Rules: 

Don’t stress if the kids don’t know the rules, they will learn as they go… It is a Junior Development Competition… not the Olympics😊 Some have played, and some are new – it’s about having some fun and learning a new sport.
