Water Polo Victoria runs two competition seasons each year.
The WPV State Championships is the premier competition, and has approximately 15 competition rounds. It is typically run from July until November, with finals held in the first week of December. A break is generally held over the school holidays in September, which typically aligns with the University mid-semester break, and University Nationals. This competition aligns generally with the University's Semester 2 calander, with the last rounds generally held during exam period, and finals held after exams conclude in the the University's summer break.
The WPV Winter Competition is a shorter, more social competition which is run for approximately 2 months (8 or 9 rounds) during May/June/July each year. This competition generally aligns with the University's semester 1 calander, with the last rounds generally held during exam period.
