What is squash?
Squash in Australia is a popular, fast-paced, high-intensity racquet sport played in an enclosed four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. With over 900 facilities, it serves as both a competitive and social sport, boasting a strong history with 7 former Australian world number-one players.

Basic Rules of Squash
- Scoring: Rally point system is used, meaning a point is scored on every rally regardless of who served. Games are played to 15; if the score reaches 14-all, the receiving player can choose to play to 15 (short game), or 17 (long game).
- The Serve: Players decide who serves first by spinning a racquet. The server must have at least one foot in the service box and hit the ball directly to the front wall, between the service line and the out line, landing it in the opposite back quarter.
- Rallying: After the serve, players alternate hits. The ball must hit the front wall (directly or via side/back walls) before it bounces twice on the floor.
- Out Lines: The ball is "out" if it hits the tin (bottom metal strip), the out lines, or the walls above them.
- The T and Interference: Players usually return to the "T" (center of the court) after a shot. If a player cannot hit the ball because their opponent is in the way, they can stop and ask for a "let" (replay the point) or a "stroke" (point awarded to them).
