VRC 1 - SSL A Grade Premiers!
A discussion was had & a plot formed to get VRC club back into A grade.
It all hinged around finding a quality number 1 that we could build team around.
Enter Dan Photopoulas & his extensive book of contacts the rest is history.
With Geoff Wilcock our new No1 we entered the season full of confidence.
We also book ended our team with another new player to club Ian Peake to boost our stocks.
From there we were off to a flyer undefeated first 4 rounds sitting top of ladder.
We dropped a few matchups middle of season but top 3 position was a lock & finals birth guaranteed.
Finishing 3rd on ladder we were primed & buzzing to launch in prelim final but unfortunately at last minute received a walk over
As a true professional team does we trained our back sides off instead in preparation for the GF.
All except Geoff that is, who well doesnβt really need to train as we all found out .
GF day arrived VRC vs Westerfolds who had enjoyed some great matchups through season.
Our No3 Daniel Jones played first who battled back from 2-0 deficit to win in 5 setting the wheels in motion.
Next up No1βs with Geoff Wilcock winning 3 games to 1 in a hard fought match.
Westerfolds had to win 3-0 to be victorious in last matchup but Darren House kept cool & executed down the stretch to win in 4.
Finally been a long time in the making with VRC1 A grade champions for 2025 summer pennant .
Special mention to Geoff who went undefeated & also Daniel who had most improved ranking in competition.
Lets go around again BOYZ!!! Captain OUT.
