Lysterfield Lake
The lake
Lysterfield Lake covers approximately 82 hectares and was originally developed as a water storage reservoir. Today, it is a much-loved recreational area, known for its natural surroundings, sheltered bays and views across the water towards the surrounding hills.
The lake's setting makes it a distinctive place to sail. With bushland along much of the shoreline and hills rising in the distance, there is always something to appreciate, both on the water and from the shore.

Wildlife and natural surroundings
Lysterfield Park is home to a variety of native wildlife. Kangaroos and wallabies can often be spotted around the park, particularly during the cooler parts of the day. The lake and its shoreline also provide habitat for waterbirds and other wildlife.
The surrounding bushland changes with the seasons, from fresh green growth in spring to the warmer colours of autumn. These natural surroundings are a big part of what makes Lysterfield Lake such an enjoyable place to visit.

More to explore
There is plenty to enjoy around the lake beyond sailing. Lysterfield Park features walking and cycling tracks, picnic areas and dedicated mountain bike trails. The Lake Circuit Trail follows the shoreline and offers views across the water, making it a popular way to experience the park on foot or by bicycle.
Visitors can also enjoy kayaking and canoeing, or relax at the designated swimming beaches at the southern end of the lake.
