La Trobe University Fencing Club is a club based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. We train twice a week at Menzies College; please see our Training page for further information.
Here at La Trobe University Fencing Club, our members train, take part in competitions, and socialise. There are many great benefits to fencing, such as building core and leg strength, finding lifelong friends, and improving overall fitness. Fencing may be a niche sport, but the community is exceptionally tight-knit, friendly, and welcoming regardless of fencing experience.
The annual membership fee for LTUFeC covers equipment hire, though we ask that fencers looking to get serious with their fencing/become competitive begin to put together their own kits.
Fencing has three different weapons, each with their own unique aspects: foil, sabre and epee.
Our club specialises in sabre and epee. The Wednesday sessions focus on sabre, with both weapons training during the Saturday sessions. The Wednesday session will be aimed at developing and improving technical skill (such as footwork and bladework).
