Formed in 1996, Lightwave has been part of the Bay Area dragon boat community since the sport’s earliest days. Based in Redwood City, we’re a diverse crew of passionate paddlers, veterans and newcomers, all united by our love for the water and the thrill of racing. We all share similar passions, train year-round, compete fiercely in races, and always find time to laugh, bond, and, importantly, answer life’s big question: 'Where’s lunch?' Whether we’re gliding across the bay in perfect sync or cheering each other on, Lightwave is about pushing limits, building community, and sharing the joy of this incredible sport.
