LAD hosted 48 girl scouts and leaders for a "learn to paddle". The girls learned the history of dragon boating, completed an origami craft and spent 30 minutes in our boat learning to paddle.

With a final time of 1:09.62, the 11-person Senior Women's team took the bronze in PTC.

With a best time of 0:59, LAD claimed the gold medal at the 2026 Acworth-Cobb Dragon Boat Festival.

In 2012 a small group of Beaufortonians heeded the call from the featured documentary “Awaken the Dragon”, shown at the Beaufort International Film Festival and from this inspiration DragonBoat Beaufort was formed. DragonBoat Beaufort (DBB) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to assisting cancer patients who live, work, or receive treatment in Beaufort County. We are a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

The team is now registered for the Acworth-Cobb Festival on 05/02/26.
