🐉 LAD — October 3 Girl Scouts Update! 🐉

Okay, team… GS CON was a SUCCESS! Thank you Melissa, Karen and Cymoune! 👏🏻

We had a TON of interest from both Girl Scouts and troop leaders. LAD walked in with 20 girls already registered and  came home with 16 only of the 80 flyers we brought. 

Translation: Girl Scouts were interested. 😂

We will have a registration breakdown from the Girl Scouts this week with registration closing on September 28. 

And here's the really exciting part…

We had troop leaders asking about private troop events specifically designed around badge requirements. THAT is exactly the kind of opportunity we want to create. October 3 isn't just about taking some Girl Scouts out on the lake. It's a chance to put LAD directly in front of future participants, families and troop leaders who could bring us additional groups in the future.

🚨 So here's where we need team members to pay attention…

October 3 is going to require TEAM participation.

The girls won't just be paddling. They will rotate through several stations, including:

🐉 Dragon Boating — LAD will introduce them to the sport, demonstrate proper paddling technique and get them on the water.

📖 History of Dragon Boating — They'll learn where the sport came from and how it has evolved.

🦆 Wildlife — They'll learn about the wildlife and natural environment around Lake Acworth.

🎨 Art Project — They'll have a hands-on creative activity to round out the experience.

The current schedule is four overlapping 2-hour sessions:

• 8:45–10:45 AM
• 9:30–11:30 AM
• 10:15 AM–12:15 PM
• 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

And Melissa confirmed that if registration is strong enough, we will add a fifth session:

• 11:45 AM–1:45 PM

Our boat holds 20 paddlers, but we're limiting each session to 10 Girl Scouts so we can meet the required 2 adults to 12 girls ratio. That leaves seats for experienced LAD paddlers to demonstrate proper technique, help the girls learn, and, perhaps most importantly, make sure the boat actually goes somewhere besides in circles. 😂

Those experienced paddlers are not just extra bodies. You are part of the experience. You're demonstrating what dragon boating looks like, helping introduce these girls to our sport and representing LAD to potential future members and partners.

So I'm going to say this as nicely as possible…

We need people to sign up. 😁

This is one of those events where it would be great to have LAD show up as a CLUB! Everyone will have an assignment, so we'll have plenty of different faces helping throughout the day rather than putting everything on the same few people. 😂🐉

Let's show these Girl Scouts what LAD looks like when we actually show up and bring the dragon! 🐉💪🏻
