Terms and Conditions & Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

These Terms and Conditions incorporate the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) / National Rugby League Code of Conduct and apply to all players, parents/carers, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators involved with the Laidley Lions Junior Rugby League Football Club (Laidley Lions JRLFC).

By registering with, attending, or participating in any Laidley Lions JRLFC activity, you agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.

The purpose of this document is to ensure a safe, positive, inclusive and respectful environment for everyone involved in our club.

2. Who This Applies To

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All registered players
  • Parents and carers
  • Coaches, trainers and team officials
  • Club officials and volunteers
  • Spectators and supporters

Laidley Lions JRLFC is responsible for the conduct of its players, parents/carers, officials and supporters.

3. General Behaviour Expectations

All participants must:

  • Treat everyone with respect, dignity and fairness regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, religion or background
  • Act in a positive and sportsmanlike manner at all times
  • Follow the rules, policies and directions of Laidley Lions JRLFC, the QRL and match officials
  • Support the values of Rugby League: Inclusive, Positive, United and Disciplined
  • Refrain from behaviour that may bring the club, the game or any individual into disrepute

4. Player Code of Conduct

All players must:

  • Play for enjoyment, development and team participation
  • Respect referees, officials, coaches, teammates and opponents at all times
  • Accept referee decisions without argument
  • Never engage in foul play, violence, abuse, sledging, taunting or offensive language
  • Play within the rules and spirit of the game
  • Care for club facilities, grounds and equipment
  • Never use or be under the influence of illegal drugs or banned substances
  • Never gamble, directly or indirectly, on Rugby League matches or competitions
  • Shake hands with opponents and officials after games, win, lose or draw

5. Parent / Carer and Spectator Code of Conduct

Parents, carers and spectators must:

  • Remember that junior sport is for the enjoyment and development of the players
  • Encourage players positively and respectfully
  • Respect referee decisions at all times
  • Never abuse, harass or intimidate referees, officials, players, coaches or other spectators
  • Refrain from using offensive, obscene or aggressive language or behaviour
  • Never enter the field of play unless directed by an official
  • Never arrive at junior games under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Follow directions from Ground Managers, club officials and match officials
  • Never ridicule or criticise a child for making a mistake
  • Use social media responsibly and never post comments that may harm individuals, the club or the game

6. Coach, Official and Volunteer Expectations

Coaches, officials and volunteers must:

  • Act as positive role models at all times
  • Place player safety, welfare and enjoyment above winning
  • Treat all players fairly and equally
  • Maintain appropriate and professional relationships with players
  • Promote respect for referees and officials
  • Follow QRL policies, SafePlay Code and club procedures
  • Act in the best interests of the club and the game

7. Prohibited Behaviour

The following behaviours will not be tolerated at any Laidley Lions JRLFC activity:

  • Abuse, harassment or discrimination of any kind
  • Excessively disputing referee decisions
  • Entering the field of play without permission
  • Physical or verbal aggression
  • Threatening behaviour
  • Racist, sexist, religious or discriminatory language or actions
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct that disrupts a match or event
  • Inappropriate use of social media that brings the club, individuals or the game into disrepute

8. Breaches and Disciplinary Action

Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Removal from the venue
  • Suspension from training, matches or club activities
  • Deregistration from the club
  • Referral to the QRL or relevant governing body

Sanctions may be applied immediately where behaviour poses a risk to safety or the reputation of the club.

9. Acknowledgement and Agreement

By registering a player or as a member, attending, or participating in any Laidley Lions JRLFC activity, all participants acknowledge that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
  • Agree to comply with this Code of Conduct
  • Accept that breaches may result in disciplinary action

Laidley Lions JRLFC is committed to providing a safe, respectful and enjoyable Rugby League environment for all participants.
