About

Welcome to Jamberoo Hockey Club! We're a club with rich history and strong community spirit. Over the years we've had representatives at all levels; South Coast, Regional, Zone, Country, NSW and Australian. Quite an achievement for a small country town!

We currently have senior and junior teams in the Illawarra South Coast Hockey competition, as well as a team in the Shoalhaven competition.

Club Beginnings

The Jamberoo Hockey Club was formed in 1948 at the instigation of Jean Robson (Lewis) who was the first president and coach. The club joined the Shoalhaven District Women's Hockey Association with only nine players. The original hockey field in Jamberoo ran east to west, north of the current swimming pool site.

'We are extremely grateful to those who worked so hard to establish the club in its early days and to the executives, coaches, umpires and committees who have worked voluntarily since.

Since hockey in Jamberoo began in 1948, there have been many changes to the game. The most notable being changes from grass fields to synthetic turfs. There have also been many changes to rules, uniforms, sticks, balls and goal keeping equipment.

Many lasting friendships have begun on the hockey field. May we, as a club, continue to enjoy the wonderful game of hockey, its challenges and rewards.'
