Hobie Cat Association of Victoria.
Welcome to the Hobie Cat Association of Victoria page for event registration, membership and local events calendar.
We’re a volunteer-run association made up of sailors who love fast boats, salty (or fresh) air, and great people. Whether you race hard, cruise casually, or are just getting started, HCAV exists to support, promote, and grow Hobie sailing right across the state.
Each year we coordinate and support a full calendar of events, with the Victorian Hobie Cat State Championships as our flagship regatta. Held annually over the Victorian Labour Day long weekend, the State Titles bring together sailors from across Victoria and beyond for three days of competitive racing, camaraderie, and the classic "Hobie family" atmosphere. We also work closely with local clubs to support open meetings, class regattas, training opportunities, and pathways for youth, women, and new sailors into the fleet.
HCAV is proudly affiliated with Australian Hobie Cat class associations and Australian Sailing, ensuring our sailors are connected nationally while maintaining a strong local community focus.
Our membership year runs from 1 March to 28 February, deliberately aligning with the State Titles held each Labour Day long weekend. Membership provides eligibility to compete in State and National events, supports the running of regattas and class administration, and helps us invest back into the Hobie community through safety, participation, and development initiatives.
Most importantly, HCAV is about people. We’re about welcoming new sailors, supporting our clubs and volunteers, and keeping Hobie sailing fun, accessible, and thriving in Victoria.
If you sail a Hobie, or are thinking about it, you’re in the right place. We’re glad you’re here.
