Glenelg Rebels Softball Club Inc

History

Founded 1946

It’s time to take our history seriously.  We have drawn from the hard work of Kath Correll and Lorraine Mildren, and pay tribute to “Diamond Duels” for supplementing our information.  Please let us know if you should be, or know of others who we have missed – and we’ll add them!

From 1944-45, until 1954-55, two A grade competitions were conducted – a Twilight Mid-week competition and a Saturday competition.  From the tables displayed, you will note there were some seasons where Rebels had 2 or 3 teams competing in the division, and in fact won both divisions in 1949/50.

The Saturday competition became the main competition in 1955/56 and is the same competition we see today.

Rebels has had an amazing level of success over the years, but particularly in the formative years of softball.
Rebels is the oldest Club playing in current day competition.

Across both the Twilight and Saturday competitions,
Rebels / Glenelg Rebels has
won more A grade premierships than any other team. Belief in our future will see that grow.
