About

In 2023/24, GEMSA will have several teams across different competitions in Victoria.

REGULAR SEASON:

UNDER 13
Our primary-aged teams are a mix of players who have some experience, and those who are totally new to the game. Both boys and girls play in the same teams, in a competition with modified rules designed to give kids of all skill levels a chance to play and learn. A softer "reduced injury ball" is used in training and games. Games run for an hour and 10 minutes. To play U13 you must be 12 or under as of October 1, 2021.
When they play: Saturday mornings at 11.30; warm-up at 10.45.
Where they play: At our home ground, Bailey Reserve (behind GESAC); at Police Paddocks in Dandenong; at Robinsons Reserve in Frankston; Gilbert Park in Knox; Jells Park in Waverley.
Training: Wednesday afternoon 5.30pm to 6.30pm

UNDER 16
Girls and boys play in separate competitions. Our U16s play against competition that is a little more experienced, but our focus is still on learning and developing skills. Unlike the U13 competition, the rules in this age bracket are not modified. Games run for an hour and 15 minutes. To play U16 you must by 15 or under as of October 1, 2021.
When they play: Saturday mornings at 9.15; warm-up at 8.00.
Where they play: At our home ground, Bailey Reserve (behind GESAC); at Police Paddocks in Dandenong; at Robinsons Reserve in Frankston; Gilbert Park in Knox; Jells Park in Waverley; Casey Softball Association.
Training: Wednesday afternoon 5.30pm to 6.30pm

WAVERLEY on Permit

GEMSA has members playing at Jells Park in Waverley Softball Association's competition. Games run for seven innings, rather than being timed matches. Members register with GEMSA then permit to the selected club at Waverley.
When they play: Saturday afternoons at 2pm (Open 2) and 4pm (Open 1 and Open 3).
Where they play: Jells Park, Waverley.
Training: With senior teams Tuesday from 5.30pm.

SOCIAL SEVENS:

We run a casual slowpitch competition over six weeks twice a season. This competition is ideal for people of all ages and no softball experience is required. We play with modified rules and a softer ball so this game is ideal for an introduction to softball.
When we play: Thursday evenings from 6.30pm
Training: None.
