WELCOME TO FLIPPABALL and U12 WATER POLO

FlippaBall is non-contact Water Polo for children aged 8-12 years. The program is designed to help players new to the game of water polo establish the confidence and basic skills required to play the game in a fun but safe and controlled environment. U12 Water Polo is a stepping stone to the U14 Junior competion at Ovens & Murray Water Polo.

Flippa Ball  and the U12 competition is run by the Ovens & Murray Water Polo Association, although you can register through a club, neither is a  club based activity. FlippaBall is a non competitive sport that includes a mixture of dry land warm ups, swimming and ball skills in the water. U12's is the first level of competitive water polo within the Ovens & Murray Association.

U12 Competition

The U12 competition is the Ovens & Murray Water Polo Associations introduction to competitive water polo. It is played in the same pool as the rest of our competition. The U12 competition takes place between 11am and 12pm on Saturday's at the same pool as our U14 and U16 competition. Want to learn the basics of the game while having fun with your mates? Then look no further because FlippaBall is the program for you! Don’t get put off by all the rules of water polo. FlippaBall is modified, non-contact social competition for participants aged 12 and under.  At Lavington pool we have the full use of the 50mt pool that allows us to utilise the shallow water for skills based sessions, and the deep end for more proficent swimmers. 

RULES OF FLIPPABALL                

FlippaBall competition is an adapted version of the game that has a shorter season length, different balls and additional modified rules to create enjoyment and basic skill development.

This is a good starting point for those new to the game before taking on a club age group competition.  

FlippaBall aims to:

• Provide a safe and age appropriate introduction  to the sport of water polo

• Introduce water polo skills, movements  and tactics to juniors

• Give all participants the opportunity to play water polo... regardless of their ability, awareness of the sport or access to pool facilities

• Deliver an engagement tool for clubs, coaches, families and communities to connect and enjoy the sport of water polo.

Designed to get more children under the age of 12 years old playing water polo, the national FlippaBall program is a non-contact, modified version of the game designed to introduce kids to the sport in a fun way.

Please note  you just need to register for Flippa Ball and U12's either through the Ovens & Murray Association or a club, it doesn't matter which one as both are run by O&M and are non club based activities. The U12 registration fee is higher as it is a competition and players need to be registered at the appropriate level.
