Club Background

Background

The club is the senior athletic club within the region extending from Parramatta and Ryde through to Hornsby and formerly known as the Cumberland Ryde Hornsby Athletics Club.

The club was established in 1984 when Cumberland Women’s Athletic Club amalgamated with the male dominated Ryde Hornsby Athletic Club.

EDAC, its athletes and its coaches participate in a range of summer and winter athletic competitions, from local to international level. EDAC has been the home of many international class athletes including, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, Darren Clark and Betty Cuthbert.

As a member club of Athletics NSW we are affiliated with Athletics Australia which is the governing body for athletics in Australia.

Location

Epping District Athletics Club has the only dedicated athletic facility within the Hornsby Shire, comprising the Epping Athletic Track. The track is located at Norfolk Street, North Epping (near Somerset Street). The Epping Athletic Track facility includes an athletic track, jumps pit, field events cage and circles and a modern clubhouse with changing facilities, a meeting room and a gymnasium.

Membership

EDAC has a range of membership options for fitness/recreational runners through to serious athletes (juniors, seniors and masters). Club members compete at State, National and International competitions.

Training

Monday to Friday from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, and various Sunday sessions. Other times by arrangement.

Social

The club has a strong interpersonal focus, including camaraderie at the track and regular social activities.
