A Brief History
Enfield Harriers was started by Mr Gary Adair in April 1960 (celebrating 65 years in 2025) and entered the South Australian competition in 'C' Grade. Ten years later we became an 'A' Grade club. The club has a long history of premiership pennants along with being the Club Champion a number of times.The clubs longest serving member John Pearce OAM, coached and participated as an athlete for the club for well over 40 years and in 2025 was postumously awarded Legend Membership status with the Club.
Enfield Harriers has a proud history in having some of the best officials in the state who regularly officiate interstate at the major events.
The club has also had a number of Australian representatives at international competitions over the years, these include:
Lisa Ondieki; Womens Marathon, Olympic silver and dual Commonwealth gold medalist
Peter Hadfield; Decathlete, multiple Australian Athletics Champion titles and Dual Commonwealth and Olympic Games representative
Claire Tallent; 20km Womens Race Walk, Dual Olympian and a Silver medallist at Commonwealth Games
Jared Tallent; 20 and 50km Mens Race Walking, 3 time Olympic representative winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals
Brooke Krueger-Billet; Womens Hammer Throw, Olympic representative and dual Commonwelth Games representative winning a Gold in 2006.
