Running, Jumping and Throwing...​​​​​

The basics of all sports.  And where do you roll them all in to one?  Athletics of course! 

At Emerald and District Athletics, we cater for anyone 4 years of age up, including master athletes (30yrs+). We participate in weekly club days for fun and fitness. For those who like the challenge of competition, regional carnivals are held at places like Mackay, Longreach, Rockhampton, and Townsville throughout the year. Our clubs biannual regional carnival is in July 2026. This is a great opportunity to compete against other clubs and local talent, catch up with friends and family and have some fun.

We have qualified Coaches to assist athletes in the correct techniques of each descipline, but are always eager to have more join the team. All of our coaches and officials are volunteers and make the time to help when they can. Have you ever considered being a Coach or Official?  ANQ, our parent body, regularly hold Level 1 and  2 coaching courses and Officials courses. 

With our updated uniform design, athletes now have a choice of a singlet, long sleeve, crop top and collared polo. Uniforms are available from the clubhouse and offered at a discounted price due to continued sponsorship from Fura, a local company. We are very grateful for their support.

Weekly club days are held on Sunday afternoon at the Marist College Oval on Jeppesen Drive.  Parents are asked to assist with the running of the events e.g., raking pits, holding tape measures, or you may even join as a master athlete yourself . 

We hold regular committee meetings and families are more than welcome to be involved and see what happens behind the scenes to keep the club running.
