Expression of Interest: Private Hitting Lessons with Phil Overlack
Who is Phil Overlack?
Phil Overlack has one of the more extensive playing and coaching résumés in Queensland baseball.
As a player, Phil spent nine seasons in the original Australian Baseball League with the Gold Coast Dolphins/Cougars. He began his senior career with the Runcorn Indians, where he later moved into a player-coach role and had his #20 jersey retired by the club. By 2018, Phil had already accumulated more than 750 Division One games across his playing and coaching career.
His coaching career has since extended well beyond club baseball. Phil has been a multi-year Queensland U16 Head Coach/Manager, leading some of the state's best young players at the Australian Youth Championships and through Baseball Queensland's high-performance pathway.
Phil has also coached at the national-team level with Team Australia, serving as an assistant coach with Australia's U12 program through the WBSC World Cup pathway.
Most recently, Phil was part of the coaching staff of the 2026 Brisbane North Senior League Australian Championship team, which earned the right to represent Australia at the Senior League World Series in South Carolina.
Put simply, athletes are getting access to a coach who has spent decades playing, coaching and developing athletes from club baseball through to state, national and international competition.

- Timing, rhythm and adjustability
- Lower-half use, direction and power development
- Pitch recognition and approach
- Situational and game-specific hitting
- Video feedback and analysis where appropriate
- Individual drills based on the athlete's age, experience and development needs

Why Train With Phil?
There aren't many opportunities for young players to work one-on-one every week with somebody who combines nine seasons of ABL playing experience with decades of elite-level coaching.
Phil has coached athletes at virtually every level of the Australian pathway and understands that good hitting is about much more than simply taking swings.
The aim is to develop a hitter who understandstheir own swing, their approach and how to make adjustments, while building the confidence and consistency to take their work from training into games.
Whether the athlete is trying to establish themselves at club level, push into representative baseball or continue along a high-performance pathway, the training will be tailored to where they are now and where they want to go.
