Event information

This event has passed.

Applications for the Level 1 Coaching Course are now open to prospective coaches in Tasmania.  All Clubs are requested to send this information on to those who have indicated they are interested in attending a Level 1 course.  AusDBF also requires an endorsement from the club for each enrolment, this is to ensure that the club is in agreement that the future coach is a good fit for your club and its growth.   All completed enrolment forms are required to be submitted by Monday 24th June at the latest - this will enable those undertaking the course to have time to complete all the required eLearning modules prior to attending the course.

To enable all clubs throughout the state to have sufficient Level 1 coaches to run sessions for the club on a regular basis, we encourage new Level 1 coaches to come on board to share the load for each club.  With multiple coaches for each club, not only is the workload shared, but ideas for growth and planning are forthcoming

Previous responses from clubs indicate that we will have enough enrolments to run this Level 1 course (minimum of 8 required to run a course).

COURSE DETAILS: Cost of course $250 per person

This course will be held over 2 consecutive days (weekend of 2nd and 3rd August). It is designed to provide new coaches with the tools to effectively train club athletes for general training and regatta preparation. There is a good mix of online eLearning modules, classroom activities (workshop format) plus water sessions and land-based drills. Come prepared to paddle, perform warm up – cool down exercises, run training sessions and be subject to video filming and review.

Requirements:

  • Endorsement from the club is required (please add endorsement at end of form)
  • Pre Learning (online) will be required to be completed before the face to face course - ALL Pre Learning information will be forwarded on receipt of enrolment form and proof of payment.
  • Morning tea and light refreshments will be provided
  • BYO Lunch
  • First Aid Accreditation and WWVP card (completed prior to course dates or at a minimum booked in)

Post Course Requirements:
At the completion of this course all participants will have 90 days to complete the assessment tasks set at the end of the 2 day course.  As an example, this includes developing a series of 10 training session plans, delivery of plans and assessment by a Mentor/assessor along with Self assessment, Risk Management  and Development plans. (all aspects of which are covered in the course).
By running this course in August, the 90 days assessment period will take each participant up to the first Statewide Regatta to be held at Lake Barrington in October.  What better way to prepare than to be in the process of preparing for a Statewide event.

Level 1 Coach accreditation lasts for 4 years. Further information can be found at: https://www.ausdbf.com.au/ausdbf-courses/coaching-courses
