Athletics West

Member Declaration

I hereby apply to become a member of Athletics WA and the club I have selected (if any) and declare that I am eligible to participate in competition according to the eligibility laws set down by the By-Laws of Australian Athletics.

I agree to abide by all the Rules, Policies and By-Laws of Athletics West and Australian Athletics including the code of conduct contained therein and Constitution and Rules and Regulations of World Athletics as amended from time to time.

I consent to undergo drug testing as directed by ASADA (if applicable) and I consent to my name and/or image being used in Athletics West and Australian Athletics  publications or published by official event photographers.

I acknowledge and consent to the information provided (including sensitive information) being collected, held and used by Australian Athletics in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Privacy Policy

Athletics West (AW) is committed to providing you with the highest level of customer service. This includes protecting your privacy. The AW Privacy Policy has been formulated in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act), however it should be noted that AW is not bound by this legislation except in the collection of health/medical information. The AW Privacy Policy outlines the type of personal information that we need to collect; how we collect use and store that information; when we disclose that information; the update of and access to that information; and who to contact should you have any concerns regarding the use by AW of your personal information.

Collection of your personal information

Athletics West collects personal information from you in order to provide you with services and information associated with membership of Little Athletics, including particular products and services, such as coaching camps, championship entry, Junior Development Program etc. The information we collect is supplied by you upon registration of your child/children for each new season of Little Athletics or for any specific AW activity/event. No information will be requested by AW unless it is relevant. Members will be advised of the reason for collecting information if requested.

Use of your personal information

Your personal information may be used to provide the services you require or request. Providing this information allows Athletics West to administer and manage those services and to inform you of additional services/opportunities that may be available. AW may on occasion utilise your personal information for the purpose of researching and developing our services. In the U14 age group we may furnish you with information regarding the Senior athletics program and any other information regarding the sport of Athletics. We may also use your personal information to promote the products/services offered by related organisations and our sponsors.

Photographs & Video

Photographs and videos taken by Athletics West or its agent(s) of your child or yourself in attendance at a AW event/function may be utilised for any legal/appropriate purpose whatsoever, including(but not by way of limitation) illustration, promotion, advertising, trade, etc. Such photographs may be published in any medium and may be labelled with the name of the person/s in the photograph and the event at which the photograph was taken.

As parent/guardian of the named athlete/s and in consideration of my child/ren attending the Little Athletics WA program and/or AW run events, I agree to my child/ren being photographed and/or videoed and to use of their name, image (including in photos or videos) and/or a quote for training purposes; official Athletics West sponsor/centre publications, on Athletics West centre approved photographer websites and being disclosed to Athletics Partners and sponsors for general marketing and promotional activities including publication online.

Disclosure of your personal information

Athletics West treats all information held on our members as confidential. On occasions we disclose statistical aspects of your personal information for purposes related or ancillary to the main reason for which it is collected, such as:

  • internal accounting and administration
  • regulatory reporting and compliance
  • helping to identify and inform you about services that may be of benefit to you and your family
  •  gaining sponsorship or government funding

The organisations to which we may disclose information on a confidential basis include but may not be limited to:

  • outsourced service providers such as mailing houses or course providers. Such providers are bound by a confidentiality agreement
  • your representatives (legal advisers etc)
  • our professional advisers including our auditors, legal advisers, insurance brokers etc
  • government and regulatory authorities and other organisations as required or authorised by law
  • our related organisations such as Australian Athletics
Accuracy of your personal information

Athletics West takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. The accuracy of this information depends to an extent on the information you provide. We recommend you advise your local Centre and AW if there are any errors in your personal information or of any changes required to personal information.

Storage of your personal information

Athletics West protects any information that we hold about you from misuse and loss. We protect your privacy by restricting access to your personal information to those members of staff or officers who need it, either to process information or to provide you with the services that you have requested. Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy documents, as electronic data, or in AW software systems. AW maintains physical security over our paperwork and electronic data stores and premises. We also maintain computer and network back-up and security systems.

Policies & Codes of Conduct

The Athletics West (AW) Member Protection Policy and associated policies aim to ensure positive behaviours and attitudes are maintained in a safe sporting environment where children and young people are free to enjoy athletics safe from harm. By registering with AW all members and all those in scope agree to abide by the AW Member Protection Policy. Child Safe Sport Declaration 

To work with children as a parent volunteer, on roster, a valid WWC Check card is required, unless exempt. Parents volunteering where relying on the Parent Volunteer Exemption (PVE) declare by registering they are eligible to access the PVE. 

Duke of Edinburgh- Duke 4 Sport

Athletics West recognise that some of our Members are completing the Duke of Edinburghs International Award and may be using this sport and club membership to complete one or more sections of their Award. 


Dale Athletics Centre

Please read the Dale Rules of Competition and Codes of Conduct carefully. By registering your athlete(s), you are agreeing to abide by these.

 

Breach of any of the included items may result in suspension, loss of privileges and/or exclusion from end of season Championships and trophies, as determined by the Dale committee.
