CYSM Sea Dragons will be partnering with Australia-China Young Professionals Initiative (ACYPI) to host our first-ever dragon boat paddling event to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival or 端午节!

Dragon boating has a rich history that dates back over 2,000 years in China. It originally began as a way to honor the poet and statesman Qu Yuan, who drowned in the Miluo River. To protect his body from being eaten by fish, local fishermen paddled their boats out in search of him and threw rice dumplings (粽子) into the water to distract the fish. Today, dragon boating is a beloved sport practiced (sometimes competitively) worldwide, symbolizing teamwork, strength, and the spirit of community.

We will take this opportunity to introduce you to the thrilling world of dragon boating! Whether you're a seasoned paddler or a first-timer, this is the perfect chance to get out on the water and learn the ropes.

Enjoy a relaxed paddle followed by a networking afternoon tea, where you can unwind and connect with others in a laid-back setting.
