We need your help!

💚Volunteers are at the heart of every Club. 💚

We believe everyone has something unique to offer. You may be between boats, supporting a partner who races, new to the sport, or simply interested in learning how yacht racing is run.

Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. All you need is a willingness to work as part of a team and help deliver excellent on-water race management.  Our racing program continues to thrive thanks to our volunteers enthusiasm and commitment. To keep delivering, we rely on volunteer support both on the water and on land. Whatever your interests or experience, there is a role for you.

If you’ve got enthusiasm, we encourage you to get involved, we’ll find the right fit for you! 

Some of the areas we’re currently looking for extra hands include:

  • Equipment Auditors: They verify that all required safety gear—such as flares, lifejackets, and medical kits—is on board, properly serviced, and within its expiry date before a yacht can enter a race.
  • Equipment Officer: Maintains, repairs and sources the equipment needed for the Club to operate effectively.
  • First aiders
  • Grant Application Writing: Assist in writing grants applications for the club
  • Instructors: Delivers Australian Sailing and Discover Sailing programs.
  • Marketing & Sponsorship: Support the Club’s sponsorships, corporate partnerships and experiential marketing initiatives. This role helps identify new revenue and promotional opportunities, which are vital to achieving our strategic vision and promoting sailing and Club interest groups within the community.
  • Membership Officer: Supports ongoing growth across all membership classes.
  • Photographers: Photographs Twilight Series races, regattas, presentations and social events.
  • Race Officer: An on-water or landside and responsible for the fair, consistent, and safe conduct of a sailing race in accordance with the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
  • Raffle Duties: Assist by selling raffle tickets to help raise funds for sailing at the Club.
  • Scribes: Race official or race assistant stationed on the start boat.
  • Skippers & Keelboats for Twilights – help get more people out on the water
  • Social Events and Weekly Presentations Duties
  • Social Media & Content Creation: Photos, videos and sharing club updates
  • Start Boat Drivers: If spending a summer Wednesday afternoon on the start boat, in good company, while providing a valued service to the Club appeals to you, our Committee would love to hear from you.
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinates all aspects of volunteering within the Club.

CYCHI offers ongoing training for Race Officials, including Australian Sailing Race Officials courses, online theory training for on-water practice, Racing Rules seminars and other relevant courses.

All volunteers acting on behalf of the Club are covered by the Club’s insurance policy, as well as Australian Sailing membership insurance for Club Members.
