Have you mastered your 5 km run with friends, or that 10 km you took on in the November Canberra Times Fun Run? Are you ready to step up to a half marathon? Now’s the time to start.
Step Up To Half Marathon is Canberra Runners' Half Marathon Training Program designed to help you reach your running goal and finish the Canberra Runners' Half Marathon on 17 May 2026 with a smile on your face.
Who should register? This training program is designed for you if you:
- Want to run the Canberra Runners' Half Marathon on 17 May 2026
- Have not run a half marathon before
- Run regularly and want to step up to a half marathon distance
- Want to improve your half marathon times maybe even run a PB
- Need some running buddies.
When? Starting on Saturday 21 February 2026, we train three mornings a week: Tuesday and Thursday (6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.) and Saturday (from 7:00 a.m.) for 13 weeks.
Where? Sessions will commence at John Cardiff Close, Black Mountain Peninsula (opposite Radford College Rowing Shed, Black Mountain Peninsular carpark, see link for meeting point https://maps.app.goo.gl/YYnV9HAAqeAJHdXe8
How much? The cost of the program is $150 for Canberra Runners members and $215 for non-members.
Joining Step Up to Half Marathon 2026 includes:
- A 13-week structured training program run by experienced and accredited coaches - 3 sessions per week
- Registration for the Canberra Runners' Half Marathon on 17 May 2026
- Mentoring and advice from experienced runners
- A celebratory dinner after the event (own expense)
- An information session presented by professionals in physio, podiatry and running shoes and gear
- A $20 voucher from The Runners Shop
- 5% off sale items and 10% off other items at The Runners Shop
- A functional strength assessment voucher from The Canberra Physio Clinic
- A gait/footwear assessment voucher from The Walking Clinic
- Canberra Runners membership for 2026 (for those who are not already a member).
Join us for a coffee or breakfast at a nearby cafe following the Saturday run, which is a great opportunity to catch up with other runners.
