Paddling as One: The Copper Coast Battle Dragons Story
In a coastal town where the water is as much a part of life as the dry land, dragon boating is more than just a sport—it’s where fitness, camaraderie, and pure determination meet on the water.
The Copper Coast Battle Dragons Dragon Boat Club (CCBD) was built on a simple foundation: bringing people together. While our early chapters were deeply rooted in providing a supportive space for breast cancer survivors to regain strength and connection through paddling, our story has naturally evolved into a broader, thriving community effort. Today, our club brings together individuals from all walks of life, all genders, all fitness levels, and all age groups across the Yorke Peninsula.
When a group of paddlers lock into unison, driving their paddles through the water to the pulse of a single drum, individual backgrounds fade away. What remains is momentum, rhythm, and a shared drive. Whether we’re out on Wallaroo’s waters honing technique for upcoming regattas, building cardiovascular health, or enjoying a casual session followed by a catch-up at the clubrooms, the energy is infectious.
At CCBD, it doesn't matter if you are stepping into a dragon boat for the very first time or training for competitive success—every seat in the boat matters. We are united by the pull of the paddle, the push of the team, and a shared pride in representing the Copper Coast on and off the water.
We abide by the local policies and procedures of our club in line with our (CCBDDBC) Constitution, and in conjunction with the policies and procedures of Dragon Boat SA (DBSA) and Australian Dragon Boat Federation (AusDBF).
