History
The inaugural meeting of the Coolangatta Croquet Cub (formerly the Border Croquet Club) was held on the 1st August 1949 in the presence of 25 members. Land had been put aside by the Queensland State Government in Goodwin Park, 42 Lanham Street Coolangatta. A twenty-year lease was entered into at one (1) pound per annum between the two parties. In 1952 plans for the existing clubhouse were prepared by Mr. A.L. Richardson. "The plan provides for a 25ft x 15ft club room, with kitchen and toilet facilities and an 18ft x 7ft balcony fronting the playing area." (South Coast Bulletin dated 17 October, 1951).
In the 11 June, 1952 issue of the South Coast Bulletin it was reported as follows:
"The new clubhouse for the Coolangatta Croquet Club at Goodwin Park has now been completed by the contractor, Mr. Hedley Baker, and handed over to the club. The building, which was designed by Health Inspector, Mr. A.L. Richardson, is of ornate construction and a distinct asset to the sporting club buildings of the Twin Towns".
Since its formation in 1949, the Coolangatta Croquet Club (CCC) has been successful in providing an environment for members and visitors to exercise, socialise, make friends and challenge themselves.
