BEFORE YOU REGISTER – PLEASE READ

Club Competition Night Requirements (Tiny Tots to 15s)

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all athletes:

  • A parent/carer must be present at the oval at all times while their athlete is participating. St John Ambulance cannot treat an injured or unwell child without a parent/carer present.

Parent/Carer Responsibilities

Tiny Tots to 6s: A parent/carer must remain with their athlete and assist the Age Manager throughout the session.

7s to 15s: A parent/carer must complete one duty every three weeks, such as:

  • Starting

  • Timekeeping

  • Measuring

  • Record-keeping

  • Raking

  • BBQ/canteen

  • Photography

As a volunteer-run club, we rely on everyone’s support to run a full program each week. If you are unable to complete an on-field duty for physical or other reasons, please contact us. There are also administrative and behind‑the‑scenes roles available.

At the start of each session, parents/carers must advise their athlete’s Age Manager of their rostered duty. When not on duty, parents/carers should actively assist with supervising athletes or helping run events.

Parent Duties for the 2026/27 season

Firstly, thank you to the many families who regularly volunteer. Your support helps make each competition night possible and creates a great experience for all athletes. However, there is still an ongoing challenge of filling parent duty rosters on Friday nights.

With around 21 competition nights each season, families are asked to complete a maximum of seven rostered duties. We encourage everyone to get involved where they can. Volunteering is a valuable way to support the club and be part of your child's athletics journey.

To address this issue and provide flexibility, the 2026/27 Committee has decided that families can choose to opt out of Friday night duties by paying a $300 family fee upfront at the start of the season. (This fee excludes duties for Zone, Region and State Championships).

Families who don't opt out and fail to complete their allocated duties will have end-of-season trophy points deducted for each missed duty. If the opt out fee is not paid, points may not be calculated.

The choice is simple: complete your duties OR pay to opt out.

Funds raised through the opt out program will be used to pay our 15 to 20 year old athletes to assist with Friday night competitions.

Please note: Duty requirements and the opt out fee do not apply to Tiny Tots and Under 6 families.

Payment can be made at registration desk prior to collecting registration pack.

Please note a family member must always be in attendance on a Friday night with their child/children no matter whether they have duties or not.

NSW Athletics Requirements (Junior, Open & Masters Athletes)

Families, friends, and older athletes may be required to assist officials at NSW Athletics and NSW Masters events. At major events, Cherrybrook Athletics will be allocated specific duties that must be fulfilled. We encourage all athletic families to support whenever possible to help ensure events run smoothly.
