Dragon boating originated over 2,000 years ago in ancient China along the banks of the Yangtze River, emerging from ritual reenactments to commemorate the tragic death of beloved poet and statesman Qu Yuan. Today, the tradition has evolved from these ancient superstitious and competitive roots into a highly regulated, global competitive sport enjoyed by millions across the world.
Currumbin Dragons have been paddling on the beautiful Currumbin Creek for over 20 years.
A small but very competitive and successful club, we have competed in over 22 Australian National Championships (AusChamps), medalling in all but 2 of the competitions.
