The Bellarine Volleyball Association Incorporated plays every Tuesday night at DeakinActive, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds.

We started out as a day time competition in the mid 1990s and, due to its popularity, became Bellarine Volleyball Association Inc in 1997 and changed to Friday evenings. Friday night activities in Ocean Grove ceased at the end of 2024.  2025 saw the launch of our new social competition on Tuesday nights at Deakin University, continuing this year in 2026!

​Tuesday evenings feature Mixed competition games. Games starts from 6:15pm and the evening concludes at 8:55pm.

Bellarine Volleyball runs two main seasons throughout the year, Autumn (Feb – June) and Spring (July – December).

Mini-competitions and short seasons during or after holiday breaks are announced on the WhatsApp and Facebook pages. 

BVAI Rules of the Game:

We (BVAI), interpret the rules of indoor volleyball largely in accordance with the FIVB Official Rules 2025-2028. You can a link to this here.

We do not recognise the NCAA ruling difference of allowing double-contacts on the second hit. We DO recognise the use of two liberos per set.

Our major, overarching rule is to have fun! Enjoy this beautiful game, encourage your teammates to have fun, and remember, we are a social league that exists for your enjoyment. We aren't here to argue the finer points of the rulebook, and when a referee makes a mistake, we ask that you are polite and understanding of them.
