FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Hey there, curious pickleball enthusiast! You've got questions, and we've got answers - and we promise to keep it as fun and cheeky as a game of pickleball itself. Let's dive in!

1. What the heck is pickleball, anyway?

Pickleball is like that cool sport that went to a party and brought a little bit of tennis, a dash of ping pong, and a sprinkle of badminton. It's all about hitting a ball over a net on a smaller court – and oh, it's a blast!

2. What's our club's secret mission?

We're on a mission to spread pickleball fever! At our new courts in Cosmos Park, Sunderland Drive Banksia Beach, our club aims to be the place where fun and competition collide, creating a beautiful, inclusive community that's as spicy as a jar of pickles.

3. How do I jump on the pickleball bandwagon?

First things first! Come and have a go! Check out our session times on our website, and then drop right in! Come by yourself or bring someone along – you will be welcomed with open arms regardless.

4. Do I need skills to join the club?

Not at all! We embrace everyone, from newbies to pro players. We mostly play socially and have a wonderful diverse range of players, personalities and abilities. Newbies, we will show you the ropes, no sweat!

5. What's the scoop on club facilities and perks?

Currently, we play outdoors at Cosmos Park on Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach and one night session at the covered area at the Bribie Island High School.

6. Paddle or no paddle? What's the deal?

You can bring your own magic paddle, but if you're not quite there yet, we've got club ones for loan. We can also point you in the right direction if you want to purchase your own paddle.

7. What else do I need to bring?

We recommend you come wearing non-marking court shoes, comfy clothes for sport, and bring your water bottle, sweat towel, and  definitely a hat and sunnies (if playing outside).

8. What's the damage, we mean investment?

Our session fees, day time are $5 for members and $8 for non-members/guests per session. Night fees are members- $6 at Cosmos, $7 at the school and $10 visitors. We accept EFTPOS at all NIGHT sessions taken via Square payment. Cash or prepaid vouchers can be used at the either venue.

The club is affiliated with Pickleball Queensland and Pickleball Australia. All new players have personal injury insurance for one month after attending their first session. To maintain your insurance we encourage you to join the club.

9. I want to join!

10. Is this all fun and games, or can I get my competitive groove on?

Whilst majority of our sessions are social ones, we do hold monthly mini club competitions our new courts. All members are welcome to play in a mini comp. We approach our social sessions with flexibility to suit people's preferences on the day - with larger numbers we put in place structured play, and with smaller numbers we generally just informally 'mix it up'!

11. Where's the party? I mean, where can I find playing pals?

Whilst casual sessions will become available in due course (some work needs to be done to allow for this), you will be able to make friends and play with your pals at any of our organised sessions. We regularly run social events for our members, so making friends is as easy as saying “pickleball”. You'll never feel lonely here!

12. Can I be a rule-breaker (not literally) or is there a code of conduct?

We're all about good vibes, respect, inclusivity, and fair play on and off the court. So, our code of conduct is a must-follow, but trust us, it's not as strict as pickleball scoring.

13. How do I stay in the loop on club gossip and events?

We're all over the internet like pickleball on a sunny day. Check our website, or Facebook page.

14. Want to become a pickleball rockstar or just help out?

Awesome! We'd love your energy. Talk to our club's bigwigs and they'll tell you how you can get involved and make pickleball even more fantastic.
